Roger Federer may become the first tennis player to reach billionaire status.
Like the small group of other billionaire athletes, most of Federer's wealth did not come directly from the game. The majority of his earnings come from lucrative sponsorship deals with the likes of Rolex , Mercedes , and Uniqlo .
The tennis star won his first Grand Slam at Wimbledon in 2003 - his first of a record 20 Grand Slam singles titles.

The toxic smoke in the city has been affecting tennis players in the lead up to the Australian Open , with some of them already having to seek medical treatment.
Multiple tennis players have complained that organizers were not "better care" of them.

Smoke from the ongoing bushfires surrounding Melbourne has caused problems for a number of players during qualifying matches.
Dalila Jakupovic was forced to retire from her match after suffering a coughing fit on Tuesday, while Eugenie Bouchard and Liam Broady have also reported having breathing problems.
