The tourism sector of Kerala underwent a loss worth Rs. 25,000 crore after it plunged into the crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The state's Tourism department has prepared stimulation packages worth Rs. 455 crore. The Minister for Tourism Kadakampally Surendran said that tourist spots will be reopened for domestic-foreign tourists once the pandemic is restrained.
Kerala finance minister T M Thomas Isaac started his budget speech by praising the Covid-warriors in the state, stressing on the government's welfare activities during the pandemic.

Of late, Kerala's Tourism Department is thinking about new leisure spots due to tourists reducing time of their vacation plans. Due to the pandemic, the change to easily accessible and ‘right around the corner' spots has been seamless.
