China on Tuesday reported two new coronavirus cases in the cities of Shanghai and Tianjin as it seeks to prevent small outbreaks from becoming larger ones. The National Health Commission said there were two new locally spread cases in the previous 24-hour period, one in each city. It also reported 20 cases among people who had arrived from overseas. China recorded 22 new COVID-19 cases on Nov. 23, up from 11 cases a day earlier, the national health authority said on Tuesday. The National Health Commission said in a statement that 20 of the new cases were imported infections originating from overseas. One local transmission was reported in Shanghai and another in Tianjin. Shanghai Pudong International Airport ringfenced more than 17,700 staff to test them for COVID-19 after discovering five cases linked to the cargo unit, according to multiple reports.
