Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lunar New Year was a busy period for Hong Kong's tourism industry, when visitors from mainland China would take advantage of the long break to travel to the city.
Scenes of busy border control points have been absent for the past three years as Hong Kong remained largely isolated under strict anti-epidemic rules.

Thailand tourism up but still below pre-pandemic level

Thailand says tourist numbers jumped last year, as coronavirus restrictions were eased, but remains way below pre-pandemic levels.
The South East Asia holiday destination saw 11.81m tourists in 2022 - up from just 400,000 the previous year.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand also forecast that figure will more than double to 25m this year.
However, those figures are still much lower than the record 39.8m tourists Thailand saw in 2019.

Singapore tourism recovery to pre-COVID level expected by 2024

The Singapore Tourism Board revealed that the tourist arrivals has reached 6.3 million to the country in 2022.
Indonesia remained the top contributor to the Singapore tourism with 1.1 million visitors, followed by India with 686,000 visitors, and Malaysia with 591,000 tourists.
With this, the Singapore tourism is expected to recover strongly to the pre-Covid pandemic levels by next year, 2024, according to a news agency.
