Hugh Grant defended Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's decision to leave the royal family, saying 'the tabloid press effectively murdered his mother'

Hugh Grant defended Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's decision to step back from royal life by comparing the press treatment of Markle to Princess Diana.
"The tabloid press effectively murdered his mother, now they're tearing his wife to pieces," Grant said during an interview on Radio Andy Sirius XM.
Princess Diana died in a car accident in Paris on 31 August 1997, while the vehicle was being pursued by paparazzi.
Grant went on to discuss his own relationship with the tabloid press, describing it as "very poor."
