On Wednesday armed insurrectionists - goaded on by the President - rushed the US Capitol in an effort to slow the democratic process.
For some, this is an America they don't recognize.

Some of President Donald Trump's top officials plan to refuse any orders they think could endanger the country or break the law in the last days of his presidency, Axios reported .

Fiona Hill, a former national security adviser appointed by President Donald Trump, said he was 'trying to stage a coup' after a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol in Washington, DC, on Wednesday.
"This could have turned into a full-blown coup had he had any of those key institutions following him," Fiona Hill told the Daily Beast .

Federal prosecutor Michael Sherwin on Thursday described arrests made during the riots in the US Capitol.
He said that one man had been arrested carrying 11 Molotov cocktails that were "ready to go" and a semi-automatic rifle.
Capitol Police in a separate statement said its officers were attacked with metal pipes and chemicals.
Sherwin said several of the 55 rioters so far charged were arrested for firearms offences.

A Maryland marketing company said it terminated an employee after seeing photos of him wearing his work badge inside the US Capitol on Wednesday.
Navistar Direct Marketing said the unnamed employee was "terminated for cause" after it recognized him.

Two former American diplomats said President Donald Trump remains a "danger" if he stays in office until January 20 when President-elect Biden takes over.
Gary Locke, ex-ambassador to China, said in an interview with CNBC that Trump "is completely off-kilter and is a danger to the country."
